Apologies for the lack of activity on the site but I have had to break off from nearly everything after being given a fairly short (well, fairly short to someone with a full-time job and a family) deadline for the second book of the Seeds of Destiny trilogy. The sequel to Hero Born is called Hero Grown and the first draft is intended to be finished by the end of October. So far I have got just over 40,000 words done, so about a quarter of the way there!

Hero Born has received two reviews so far, and many thanks to the writers of both... https://lynnsbooks.wordpress.com/tag/andy-livingstone/ http://www.theeloquentpage.co.uk/2015/06/07/hero-born-by-andy-livingstone/ To mark publication of Hero Born, Harper Voyager UK have kindly given me space on their website to talk about my boyhood heroes who helped inspire me to imagine my own heroic story. Find it here...
With just a week to go before publication, the good people of HarperVoyager have put a Meet Andy post up on their website. You are more than welcome to have a look... http://harpervoyagerbooks.co.uk/2015/05/introducing-andy-livingstone/ And here it is - Harper Voyager have revealed the cover for Hero Born, and what an amazing job they have done with it, too! This also means the ebook is now available to pre-order on Amazon, which would mean it would be automatically delivered on the publication date of 1st June.
The announcement of the cover reveal is on the Voyager website here. There comes a time when we have to let go of the things we love, to set them free and let them find their way in the world. In other words... the copy edits are now done on Hero Born! This is the last stage of editing on the story - and my final involvement in it, which is a nerve-wracking thought, but exciting at the same time.
In any case, as of last night my amendments are back with Voyager, which means we are still on track for the publication date of 1st June. Keep an eye on here, and I'll let you know when and how you can pre-order it as well as any other progress between now and then. Quick update: The structural edits on Hero Born are now done.
This is the stage where an editor suggests changes to the plot, characters, chapter structure, dialogue, correction of inconsistencies, etc. They are only suggestions but, to my mind, you accept any help you can get, especially if it's from an experienced professional, if you want your book to be as good as it possibly can be. A fresh eye is always a great help, and the notes from my editor, Rachel, were understanding to the tone of the story and made perfect sense. The next part of the process will be the copy editing, where a professional proof-reader will read over every syllable and punctuation mark, but the next visible stage will be the official cover reveal. I love the design and can't wait for you to see it - it should be relatively soon as we keep on track for the publication date of 1st June. Before then, you will be able to pre-order Hero Born so that it is automatically delivered to your e-reader on publication day. I'll keep you posted on when this becomes possible. Quick progress update: I have now received the structural edit notes, which basically means nine intensive days of fitting in work wherever I can. Nerve-wrackng and exciting at the same time, but it does also mean that things are on track for publication in 1st June. Right, now to work wherever I can fit it in... There is a new and final publication date for Hero Born: 1st June... just in time for the summer-holiday let-me-get-books-on-my-ereader market, which is nice. It also means that things will start happening that are newsworthy over the next few months, so i will be updating more often on progress.
